South Pointe HS Stallion Gumball Mural

South Pointe High School Art Class is creating a mural made of gumballs at the entrance of our school. This mural, in the style of artist Franz Spohn, will be composed of approximately 42,000 gumballs housed in 330 vertical acrylic tubes to create a pixilated or pointillistic image. In accordance with our school philosophy, the conception, planning, and construction of the mural will combine the disciplines of math, science, and visual art to create an artwork that will convey our school spirit and contribute to the aesthetic beauty of South Pointe High School.

This project is partially funded by the Arts Council of York County Small Grants Program, which receives funding from the Rock Hill Tourism Commission, the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of SC., the SC Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
